At E3 2019, there was a new face that enters the gaming realm, but with a different outlook on everything and the face was the tech giant Google. Google presented something that is pushing gaming into a position in which games are accessible anywhere you go. Google Stadia is a cloud-based gaming platform that is trying to take the gaming industry by storm.
Google Stadia was announced as pre-E3 announcement at the Google Stadia Connect event. At this event, Google revealed the release date window, internet requirements, price and more.
Google Stadia Release Window and Available Countries at Launch
Google Stadia is set to release sometime in November 2019. Stadia will be available this year in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
Google Stadia Price
Stadia Pro subscription will be priced at $9.99 a month. It will give users access to the Cloud Gaming service, free games (similar to Xbox Live Gold and PSN), and 4K 60FPS with HDR and 5.1 surround sound streaming, if your internet speed is able. Stadia Base will launch sometime in 2020, but without the price and the other extra features available in Stadia Pro.
Google Stadia Founder’s Edition will be one of the ways to access Stadia. The Founder’s Edition costs $129.99 (includes Chromecast Ultra, a limited edition Night Blue Stadia Controller, three months of Stadia Pro Subscription, and a three month Buddy Pass for a friend.
Google Stadia Internet Requirements
The recommended internet speeds for Stadia are as follows:
o 10Mbps for 720p, 60fps, Stereo
o 20Mpbs for 1080p, 60fps, 5.1 Surround Sound
o 35Mpbs for 4k, 60fps, 5.1 Surround Sound
Stadia is said to support 8K resolution in the future.
Google Stadia Hardware Requirements:
Stadia is a streaming service, so it will not require state-of-the-art hardware for users to play games. A compatible controller, internet speeds listed above, and one of the devices that is supported by:
o PC- Windows 7 or Higher and Google Chrome Browser
o Mac- Requires macOS X 10.9 or higher and Google Chrome Browser
o TV- Google Chromecast
o Tablet-Google Chrome Browser
o Phone (Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3a with more devices to follow after launch)
